Heeeeeere's Sherlock!
Ryan confesses to a meltdown a couple of days ago. Mine was more along the lines of a blowup. Now we know: meltdown gets roses, blowup gets irises (my favorite flower).
But wait! There's more! Outside, some of the iris plants that we got last summer from the Iris Ranch are starting to bloom. These are a pale violet color, tall and graceful.
On the subject of "Gardens: What Grows There", remember I told you we could expect rhododendrons soon? Well, ours appear to be the last ones in the world to bloom, but they are a-bloomin'.
Now, on to knitting... last night the Parlor was open late while Madame finished the front bands and the neckline of the vest. Today she intends to finish the armhole bands, wash and block. She had nightmares of people pointing at her with accusations of "Unfinisher!" spewing from their mouths last night.
Some say birthdays only last a day. Well, I'm here to tell you that mine has lasted at least 3 months! Looky here what Caroline sent me for my birthday!!
It's the Alice Starmore Virtual Yarns Seaweed Scarf, with 2-ply Hebridean in the color Limpet! Caroline made the scarf herself, and although I have stated before that I didn't like the yarn all that much, I had to change my mind when I saw hers. It is gorgeous, warm and soft. Thank you Caroline!
And coincidentally, this precious mug and its partner arrived from the Dancing Pig pottery maker in Maryland...
If you've been following my blog for a while, you know that each time I go on a trip that includes Fiber Fun, I commemorate it with a pair of cups or mugs. When I was at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival, I ran out of time and came home mugless. Well, Lady Fiddletwist saved the day by sending these mugs. I am touched. The mugs have celtic artwork around the top, and inside on the bottom you can see the curly swirl of a dancing pig's tail.
Last night I learned a New Thing. It was getting late, much later than I normally stay up, but I was engrossed in my knitting and Brad was stretched out in the Parlor sleeping... or so I thought. Another movie started, and it was sufficiently engrossing that I decided to go ahead and watch it, especially since Brad was already sleeping. About a half hour into the movie, Brad got up, stretched and announced that it was time to go to bed.
"How can you say that?" I asked, "You've been sleeping for the last hour or two."
"That's not sleep. That's 'pre-sleep', and it's not the same thing," was the answer.
Now we know. There's sleep and there's presleep. This must be why he is able to bounce out of bed at 5:00 every morning in a chipper-dapper mood. Pre-sleep.
