Last night Tippie Jane Hundheusen went to the Feral Knitters group, disguised successfully as Mme Glitchbane.. Under top secret orders from a handler known only as "Janine", Tippie took pictures of people and their projects. She failed, however, to get a picture of her camera. She didn't think of using a mirror.
As you know, Tippie is sort of... well, immature and silly. She forced Ryan at camerapoint to wear her pillow on her head for a photo opp. Ryan is a natural at fair isle knitting, and her piece is progressing wonderfully.

Still feeling the glow from successfully causing Ryan to wear inappropriate head attire, she somehow convinced Mary to wear an actual hat.... that would fit a small gnome.

Mary is a good sport
Katie was not at the table, a shame for she is elegant and photogenic, but her Luskentyre primped and postured for Tippie, showing her sherbety chicness shamelessly.

Devorah's swatch glows with deep color, which didn't show up real well for the camera.

After some light torture, June confessed that she is knitting the fair isle vest from Folk Vests, but changing it up a bit. Tippie "persuaded" her to let it pose.

The inscrutable Felina's fair isle pillow progressed, but Felina feels that the Chartreuse shall be cast out. "Out, out, damn chartreuse!" she chanted.

From Poetry in Stitches, Norma was working on one of the beautiful designs with a leaf border--

And (says Tippie Jane) the piece de resistance of the night was Margarite's Missoni-style scarf, unbelievably a fair-isle technique knit!

Tippie could not find Mme G anywhere, but rumor has it she was starting to knit Little Rivers with Granny Smith Scottish Heather. Fair Isle? I think knot.
Oh, my goodness, how silly I look! Quick! Someone get a straightjacket and put that girl in a rubber room where she belongs!
BTW, everyone, the dark color in Mary's baby hat is actually a quirky, fun, sparkly grape purple that sets off the light olive green really well. It's a cute, kicky little hat!
Posted by: Ryan on July 13, 2004 10:59 AMi love that bit of chartreuse! you are sooo lucky to be surrounded by ferals!
Posted by: vanessa on July 13, 2004 11:32 AMand happy anniversary, i hadn't scrolled down when i wrote the other post :-)
Posted by: vanessa on July 13, 2004 11:35 AMHmmm, Vannessa... your input inspires me... purrrrhaps we'll rip and claw back and use MORE chartreuse. Karen the Terrible kept hissing,"yellow, yellow," in my ear. Maybe yellow bordered by the chartreuse? This must be how you end up using 27 colors.
Posted by: Felina Schwarz on July 13, 2004 01:42 PMAlmost as good as being there!!! Thanks, Mme, for the wonderful photographs, and I'm glad to see everyone ON TASK!
And don't worry about looking goofy--remember my gecko bank robber hat??? I'm thinking of felting it for a purse.
More chartreuse is always a good idea, more colors are even better. The chartreuse that seems a little TIMID in one row might look STUNNING in three. And I like the idea of a cool yellow...
Well, everyone--I love what you are doing and you have inspired me to begin something new. I haven't felt like knitting much in my new place. I'm just slogging away on a top-down V-neck in ivory Silke Tweed--nice enough, but not enough color. I feel the cloud of uncertainty and self-doubt lifting under the inspiration of your projects.
Posted by: Janine on July 13, 2004 04:45 PMOMG!!! Fabulous photos! And lordloveaduck!!! That missoni-style scarf ROCKS!! Is that an eyelash-type yarn I see that is tucked in with the Fair Isle? BRILLIANT!!! Completely Brilliant! I love the Feral Knitters!
Posted by: Lisa, Mike, Jack, Della on July 14, 2004 05:37 AMWaidaminute! Isn't Little Rivers a #7 Priority under the current Cunning Plan?
Posted by: Karen the Terrible on July 14, 2004 11:17 AMGreat to see all your projects! I love the colors, everyone! What is Poetry in Stitches, a book? Please inform. Thanx, Karen M
