Reindeer Games, or Varg Pojken

Wednesday always sneaks up on me like a cat stalking the ends of my knitting needles as they leave contrails of circles describing the stitches just knit. Suddenly the whole weight of the cat is suspended from the end of the needle as its claws seek purchase in the shank and its teeth seek the jugular of the tubular. I am faced with full feline ferocity and it cannot be denied.

So it is when I awake to find the tongue of a baby poodle inside my left ear as he investigates the possibility of getting his breakfast. I suddenly realize that this is Tennis Wednesday, when Brad gets up at 0:Dark:30 and vanishes without a trace until after I should be awake and mid-toilette. On some Wednesdays (such as today) the shock of the realization is somewhat mitigated by the discovery of a full thermal carafe of nice hot coffee at my bedside beside an empty mug. Sweet Caffeine, I sing thy praise.

This entry to be continued (I'm late, I'm late!!)...

Ok, I'm back for a quick update on knitting. Madame Glitchbane's Knitting Parlor reopened last night, much to the delight of the Madame and Sherlock. The trim is not finished, but the painting is mostly done and it was good to be able to sink into the space-age foam futon under the Ott Lite of Full Spectrum again. On this his maiden romp of the Parlor, Sherlock quickly discovered the small stash that lives on the bottom shelf of the cocktail table.

Start loop
- Sherlock begins playing with yarn and fiber.
- I put yarn and fiber up on the shelf above the mantel out of harm's way.
- Ginger jumps up to the shelf above the mantel and pushes yarn and fiber off onto the floor.

Repeat loop until tired (it won't take long).

I didn't have the required concentration ability for the shawl last night, so I started a Dale of Norway design. It is a reindeer pullover; I don't know that it has a special name.

- Hey, why don't you name it!?

- Okay, how about..... "Varg Pojken"

I don't know if that's the correct spelling, it means something like "wolf boy" in Swedish, which is what my ex-fiancee the Swedish Count used to call his Doberman, Hector, while praising him for chasing the deer off the property. This is pronounced "vahrry poy-kin". Try to gutteralize your r, if you will. Anyone Swedish here? Feel free to correct me!

Anyway, I have been in love with the design for a long time and it has been stashed in both colorways shown to be knit for me and Brad.

I would show you my progress so far, but it would put you to sleep and that is not necessarily the purpose of this blog! I started with mine, of course! But as soon as I buy yet another Addi Turbo in the 2.5 mm size I can start Brad's and try to work them simultaneously. I knit about 1/2 inch of the ribbing last night, an exciting adventure indeed! The color is called "Sheep's Heather" and is a dark oatmeal with a green/black tinge to it.

I tried to convince myself to complete the baby Dale sweater that has been a WIP for a couple of years. This is the design:

However, I substituted elephants for the rocking horses. I will post a picture of that wip tonight. It is almost complete except for the neckline and sleeves, but there is no intended recipient now and as such there has been no urgency in completing it.
