The Hero Returns

The Gray is back and suddenly coffee has reappeared on my nightstand when I wake up. I found the magic button on the fireplace that starts it up every time (a loose connection), the kitchen was clean this morning, and i slept very well. I'm starting to believe there is a connection. The poor man. Feel very sorry for him. A week in Vegas watching shows, taking tennis lessons, winning enough to pay for all his expenses, wining and dining and relaxing. A horrible thing for him to have to endure on behalf of his client! (For the curious, yes, I was invited along, but I abhor the huge crowds and environment; I opted to stay with my furry friends).

There is not much exciting knitting to report. I'm still working on the lace glove, presently engaged in the ring finger. The glove is going to be a little too big, but wearable. For a pair that fit, I would go down to a size 0, I think, or else diminish the stitch count.

My mood seems to be more conducive to spinning lately. This could be because I am trying to keep the big dogs inside more, due to the increasing cold and rain. If I sit and knit, I have a lap. Laps invite dogs to lay on them. But if I spin, my lap is effectively blocked by the flyer and the fiber and since I am on a small chair and not a futon there is no place for them to lay down on. So I sit there spinning away, ignoring the big furry ones so that they will be calm and lie down. It's really nice to have them with me, such love in their eyes every time they look my way. Once they are calm I allow them to come over every few minutes for some petting and sweet talk. Harvey especially eats it up.

After having spun an entire bobbin of cashmere/silk on Lenny Lendrum, I turned my Chimiel le Polonaise flyer towards the black blue-faced leicester that has been in my stash for ages. It is spinning up nicely, and I hope to be able to get a 3- or 4-ply yarn that will show texture very well yet still be quite soft.

Yea!I'm glad The Gray One is home too! Things do seem to go much smoother once the other half has returned. Jars that resisted opening, or furnaces that refused to start all behave once Mark has once again claimed his rightful spot....in front of the television!! Being able to spin sounds so peaceful, but in my household, I'd have to stop every couple yards or so of spun material to untangle one cat or the other from stuff....
