It's here, the Schact-Reeves 30" Saxony in beautiful cherry. Spins like a dream. What did I do first? Remember the leftover dye job from the other day? Here... let the pictures do the talking.

Gaaaasp!
You got the very wheel I have all picked out for myself! In Cherry! I tried one out at Halcyon Yarns in Maine, and it is amaaaazing. I am all jeaous, over here. =) I need a big saxony wheel to keep my Tina II company!
If your wheel ever decides on taking a vacation, I travel alot! It could see new places, make new friends, spin new yarns. =)
Posted by: Brianna on March 30, 2005 05:03 PMWOW! Very beautiful! You gave me quite a start with your Thursday posting, as I have a dinner date on Thursday and I thought, "OMG, looks like I'm late!".
Posted by: Annette on March 30, 2005 05:09 PMunfreaking believably beautiful. the wheel and the yarn.
Posted by: vanessa on March 30, 2005 05:30 PMWow! I think you have now gone over the bend, but in a totally enviable way.
Posted by: Janine on March 30, 2005 05:39 PMSheila - I can always rely on you for such beautiful inspiration. The wheel is gorgeous - as is the roving and the yarn.
Although I'm very close to getting my Robin wheel, I've been drooling over the Watson wheels. They look lovely. Yours reminds me of the style that I like.
How many wheels does one person need? (four, maybe?)!!
Posted by: Mary on March 30, 2005 06:22 PMA thing of beauty, indeed !
Posted by: Emma on March 31, 2005 04:44 AMWell that'll get one out of a slump! I'm very glad to see that blending with combs gives such a nice result, I'm gearing up to do some of that myself (have the dye, the fleece, the combs - just need the time and the nerve...).
Posted by: CarolineF on March 31, 2005 05:15 AMOh, beautiful! The wheel and the yarn! I love the combing-in-progress photos, and the pooch seems quite smitten with the wheel.
Posted by: Deb on March 31, 2005 06:36 AMThat newly-spun yarn is unbelievably lovely. It practically *glows* on the bobbin. Wow.
Congrats on the new wheel! Looks like Sherlock approves... ;-)
Posted by: Beth S. on March 31, 2005 06:36 AMOh, how pretty - the wheel, the yarn... Lovely!!
Posted by: Cathy on March 31, 2005 06:58 AMHow many wheels does one person need? I think, for myself, three. The big one, the medium one that can be portable if need be, and a small very portable one. Of course, if you like spinning woolen, you'd also need a Great Wheel. Oh, and a charkha. Ok, five. And some drop spindles, a turkish spindle, and a navajo spindle. That should do it.
The combing to blend colors is very fun and addictive. Actually, since I learned to comb in a way that doesn't kill me (by lashing the one comb down and keeping it there) I'm really loving combing.
Posted by: Sheila on March 31, 2005 07:18 AMOh what a beautiful wheel! I don't spin, but I'd still like one for myself. That yarn is drop-dead gorgeous, too. You are one talented lady, Sheila.
Posted by: Jen on March 31, 2005 08:14 AMI would like to know what you can knit with yarn like that. I quite often see yarn that I would love to have but don't know what to make with it or how much to buy, especially if I don't know what to make it into.
Posted by: Trish on March 31, 2005 12:05 PMI had socks in mind, but will have to wait until I can dye up some more fiber, as the small hank that this produced was only about 140 yards. It's about a sport weight, so something like... the baby surprise jacket would be a good use for it, as well as many of the domino knitting designs or others by Vivian Hoxbro. Hat, mittens, gloves... a sweater if you've got enough and want to knit at that small a gauge for a whole sweater of goldenrose :-)
Posted by: Sheila on March 31, 2005 01:37 PMBeautiful wheel, beautiful fibre....but oh that chair. What a gorgeous chair. ;o)
Posted by: Dot (Australia) on March 31, 2005 01:59 PMGah! It's gorgeous! When I get a Saxony wheel, it'll be that one! And I love the new yarn -- I've been looking at buying a set of combs!
