No (More) Yarn For Me!

It appears there are many other sinners such as I who do nothing with our handspun. Let us seek absolution and grant it to ourselves, eh?

I've now restored more than 80 blog entries dating from February of 2003. These were deleted from the database when I temporarily went insane(er?) and determined to stop blogging. I've been trying to categorize them thoroughly as well, and am not so much shocked as amused at the ever-lengthening list of knitting projects, most of which aren't finished even now.

This lends credence to my belief that knitting is simply therapy for me. The finishing of a project is satisfying, but not, it apears, necessary. I do feel a bit guilty about being wasteful in terms of money and yarn, and I have put myself on a no-more-knitting-yarn plan. I'm going to see how long I can stick to it. I don't include weaving yarn because I intend to weave a rag rug or two which will require rug warp (which is very inexpensive).

You laugh. You say it will be no time before I'm enabled by some evil person (vanessa, you know who you are... and Laurel, you with your pink passion...). But I am determined.

Anyway, it has been fun reliving the time when I first brought Sherlock home, seeing his cute little cafe au lait self and remembering how sweet he was from day one.

Tomorrow the Family begins to arrive. I've decided I'm not going to Alaska. I love my family, but the Gray can't go with me and there are a thousand other reasons I don't want to go but I won't bore you with all my neuroses. The Alaska Ten will have a good time and I'll be here cheering them on and writing more blog entries.

thanks miss sheila--i remember those DARK DAYS when you were going to stop blogging. So very glad you are back.

Oh, I'm glad the archives are back. And I'm really glad you're still blogging.

Are the stories there -- you know, the drive-in yarn store, the mood yarn...? I thought those were inspired. I'm hoping there will be more : )

Ah, the mood yarn. Yes, we're still stuck with what to do about Polly McFeeters... look in the category dropdown for "Stories". You should find them in that archive. One of these days I'll get her out of her dead faint :-)

I've still got literally hundreds of blog entries to restore, btw. What was I thinking when I deleted them all?!?

Sweet little poodle puppy! My how he's grown, huh? :-)

If Alaska was only going to tire and stress you out, then it's a good thing you're staying home. Relax and don't worry about it. Besides, it's not actually that far away from you, comparatively speaking. You and the Gray can hop a cruise ship any time.

Awwwww... there is NOTHING that tugs on my heartstrings more than a poodle puppy. What a sweet face! How old is Sherlock now?

re: the yarn diet - I am just about to the place where the diet begins. I have enough sock yarn for 7 pair, laceweight alpaca for a Fiber Trends shawl, rustic wool for a vest for the S.O., and I ordered yarn for I don't remember what just the other day. There's more, but just what I've listed is enough to keep me knitting for months (I'm slow, and don't have much time to knit, either).

re: archives; AAAUUUGGGH! I'm online reading blogs too much as is, now you have even more bloggy goodness for me to read? and just WHEN am I supposed to do that, Ms. Sheila?? ..grin..

I'm sorry you don't have another trip in you. My folks drove to alaska (they have a fifth wheel), and it was an Adventure with a capital A. Of course, the good part of it is that you'll be with the Gray, and we'll have more bloggy goodness to devour.

Enough! I have class all day tomorrow. To BED.

I'm glad you are digging up archives that I haven't read. When I first started reading blogs I went and read all of my favorites from the time they started. Yours being one of them. Now I can get the whole picture.

Thanks for emailing me your link. I did finally click and realized that I can simply google everyone!

I love your Ireland posts. I hope to get there one day.

Sravana, Sherlock is 2.5 years old now, he was born in February of 2003. Trish, glad you're here! Beth, thank you for giving me something with which to fend off my family. As all families do, they have a way of laying on the guilt! And Alaska is pretty darn close for sure.

On the radio I'm listening to jazz right now. They're playing "I Ain't Got Nobody" and I'm remembering my first few days in Spain, where I attended a piglet roast. Some of the pilots put the heads of the sucking pigs on sticks and ran around singing that song. Cracked me up.
