Felina's Nose for Noses

The other day, Felina and I went out for coffee and then met up at a quilting shop at Country Village in Bothell. On the sidewalk outside the store was a bargain table, and Felina, being a thrifty soul, dashed up to it with a premonition of good things to come.

By the time I arrived, she had claimed her Treasure: a big plastic bag full of noses. Yes, noses. Hundreds of noses. Some big, some little, some in-between. A few eyes were included, and the backs for the noses too, but mostly? Just noses.

The shop used to carry supplies and patterns for making bears and dogs and so forth and was eager to divest itself of so many extraneous noses. There were two price tags on the bag: one said $2.00 and the other said $1.00. After a tiny bit of Felinious jocular haggling, all the noses went home with Felina for one American dollar, plus 8.1% tax.

When last I saw her, she was knitting a perfect little sheepdog out of homespun, making it up as she went. Its tiny little nose was just perfect. When we showed it to The Gray and explained that it was a sheepdog, he said "I Nose that!" I swear I heard that sheepdog whimper.
