This and That

Have I ever told you about Patrick The Good, my second husband? The first time I ever saw him he was on crutches after knee surgery-- steel-gray hair and piercing blue eyes and an incredibly contagious cheer about him. I knew he was special when I learned he had a cat. Never trust a man who doesn't like cats or a woman who doesn't like dogs.*

I spoke to Patrick The Good not long ago, and asked if he still had a cat. With great sadness, he said no, because they were forever being eaten by the local forest inhabitants. This is also the case here; we risk our precious cats' lives if we let them go outside at all, yet some breeds of cat will let you know in messy ways that they are not happy staying in the house.

I went to Quilting Broads on Tuesday and found that Liz [subliminal message for Liz here:: you really should update your blog and show knitting pictures:: end message] has taken up spinning and knitting. About a week after starting knitting, what does she show me? A perfectly knit dog sweater for her Dalmatian Arlo. I'd say she has the Aptitude, wouldn't you? Not only that, but she has put me to shame by having her first sock (in true sockweight yarn) knit almost to the heel flap. If I spent half as much time knitting socks as I do wishing I would knit them, I'd have several pairs of socks by now.

Recruiters have been coming out of the woodwork since the beginning of the year and it seems like Fortuna's Wheel is decreeing that I should take a job after two years off. We shall see what happens; a bit of bus knitting wouldn't be so bad, would it?

The basement parlor is now in great disarray though the bedroom is in... array? Sometimes language makes no sense. Anyway, I am trying to paint the fireplace surround in an engaging color scheme that does not involve pink. Apparently it should not involve neutral gray-green, either. Third time's a charm?
