Sherlock Gets a Job

It puts such a smile on my face to get home and check my blog comments and see the reverse blog entries! I had no idea how delightful it would be.

I'm slowly getting used to going to work again, but still I'm not good for much when I get home. I'm really lucky to have such great kids. Zach has been working on painting things and starting to craft a bathroom out of the utility room. Lyubo and Sherah have been cooking and grocery shopping and cleaning (and they now both have jobs woohoo!), and the Gray has been making breakfast and doing laundry. Every once in a while I'll pick up the vacuum cleaner, but mostly I just spin and watch Buffy all over again and go to bed before 9:00 so that I can get up before 5:00 and miss the traffic jams.

I'm wearing my Flying Geese gansey today and thinking how much I love it so if I do start knitting (anything other than garter stitch nothings that I immediately rip out) it may have to be another one of these.

The biggest surprise at work was when I saw a small pug running through the desks willy-nilly. Turns out it belongs to the CEO. Turns out that my company is dog-friendly and so I can take Sherlock with me any time I please. So this weekend it's the groomer and as soon as it seems like a good day to do so, he'll start work too!

Every time I've taken Grace to the office she leaves a souvenir. Haven't taken her since the last time we had the carpets cleaned. I figured she is doggy non grata.

I worked in a pet friendly building for years and it was great. We all all got to know each other through our dogs and the few office cats. It just seemed to make it a more pleasant place.

How exciting! Do you think Sherlock could be taught to debug code? ;-)

Hello! Happy reverse-blog Friday.

Wow - how great that you can take your dog to work! I think that my 2 would be crazy happy if they could come to work. I don't know that anyone would get anything done, tho. We have "training issues." As in...they are not well-behaved, and I'm the one who is supposed to be training them. Eek!

I'm excited to start the Knitting Olympics tonight. I really didn't have to think of a difficult project to knit - trying to COMPLETE just about anything in 16 days is a challenge with my schedule. I need to be in bed by 9:30, so I can be up at 5:30 and heading back to work. I CAN stay up later, but then I tend to doze off while doing the boring parts of my job. That can't be considered good employee behavior!

Well, have a great weekend!

I am sure that Sherlock will be an excellent worker.

I love love love Buffy. Could that be in our genes? I'm sure Sherlock could outwork half the people in my office on any given day. Relax and enjoy the weekend. It goes by too quickly these days. Love ya!

Hi Sheila, I've so enjoyed reading about your job interviews and your re-entry into the job force. I'm newly retired (though I do work two days a week) and am so glad to be taking a long-deserved "rest." I thought I would have more knitting time--ha, ha, ha, ha!

Right now, I'm participating in the Knitting Olympics and my personal challenge is also to stay focused on one piece of work for 16 days straight! I'm making clapotis because for one year it kept being put on the knitting back burner.

Lucky you being able to bring Sherlock to work!

Sheila, it's a good thing that you have a dog like Sherlock and not one like Arlo. I'm sure 10 minutes with Arlo would have them change their minds about pet friendly! So glad to hear that you're doing ok. When are we going to schedule our first Saturday QB gathering?

Hooray for Sherlock! How nice for him to have a job. :)

Reverse blogging: I am having some classmates over tonight for a bitch party, they'll all get to meet Omar (and some haven't even met Blossom!) - I'm dealing with mid-winter depression (even though it couldn't be a sunnier day outside), but I'm managing... I'm going to finish Marnie MacLean's Wyvern socks this week - and next week I have break, and I'm going to start swatching for AS's Kinsale from Fisherman's Sweaters. W... 7 stitches/inch. That should be fun. :D
