A very short entry today due to a distinct lack of new photos of Le Knitting since The Mysterious K has been very ill with something juicy and vile that has a 100% chance of being passed on to anyone who comes within a hundred yards of her. So, at her request, I've been avoiding her, her house, and any and all items in her house, including the digital camera, for the last couple of days. However, I did pass on Dear Reader Debra's request for a photo of TMK to The Source and begged her for a photo, saying things like "One photo? Just this once? Pleeeeeeze? For meeeeeeeeeeeee?" After many hours of delicate negotiations, she agreed, so here, for Debra—here, in fact, waving at Debra—a photo of TMK.
Knitting Knews
The two-handed, two-color, stranded, steeked, circular needle, Norwegian snowflake project (phew!!) has been resurrected. So far, so good. Havin' fun. No mistakes. Haven't been tempted to, yet again, FAS (Frog a Swatch). Picture on Monday, if TMK hasn't sneezed all over the camera.
We have a beeyooooootiful weekend in store for us here in the Great Northwest. What about everyone else? What'all are y'alls weekend plans?
Posted by Ryan at April 2, 2004 09:55 AMI love TMK's picture. We wouldn't want the "mysterious" part spoiled anyway.
This weekend is: Alpacapalooza! My husband loves this event, for no reason I can discern since he's a dedicated urbanite and doesn't knit or spin. But the alpaca are pretty amusing all by themselves. We're going on Sunday, since Saturday is booked with a plan bike ride around Bainbridge (and I think I'm going to finally get to go to Churchmouse) followed by a party for 2 friends who went to Oregon to elope.
I'm sure you'll be out readying the dye garden for the summer, right?
Melinda
Posted by: Melinda on April 2, 2004 10:20 AMOh, that reminds me, Melinda! We were thinking of going to Alpacapalooza, too--although now I don't know if TMK will be up to it. As you can see, she is just a shadow of her former self. :-)
Posted by: Ryan on April 2, 2004 10:24 AMSorry TMK's not feeling well... I can tell from the photo that she's running a fever.
Glad to hear that the stranded knitting project has risen again! I look forward to seeing it at the next Feral meeting.
Posted by: Janine on April 2, 2004 10:41 AMJanine, the stranded knitting project is going really well, and Little Janine sits on my shoulder and helps me constantly as I go from round to round. This time around I made a bigger steek (9 stitches) and, to give my poor brain a break, am following the chart as written, as opposed to arbitrarily flip-flopping the colors.
Posted by: Ryan on April 2, 2004 10:49 AMmy seattle-based children are coming here to east texas this weekend and will miss your glorious sunshiny days there- hope our marshy bogs and bayeaus can keep them content for a few days-
ah, perhaps tmk is suffering from grass allergy as she appears to have been totally immersed in that when standing for her portrait- hope she recovers soon-
am ready to cast on socks using your pretty pattern (in some zimba top by schoeller in pale lavender if i can get gauge- if not, i'll use some pastel multicolor sockotta) as soon as i finish a couple of kitty blankets- the blanket project is worthy but blankets are dull, dull, dull so the sock is being used as the carrot at the end of the stick to urge this donkey along-
Posted by: barb in texas on April 2, 2004 11:35 AMI think we've got your weather out here - rainy, raw and flood warnings. The weekend isn't likely to improve much :(
I'm planning on having lunch with my dad tomorrow and then I'm going to work on an as yet undisclosed project - undisclosed because there's a lot of room for catastrophe :) Hopefully, more about that on Monday.
Hope TMK is feeling btter soon and that you have fun at Alpacalooza - they're such attractive beasts!
Posted by: Robbyn on April 2, 2004 11:44 AMI'm positive IT hates me. I keep snarfing coffee all over my keyboards. I need a bib! *G* TMK's self portrait is lovely. ;D
And TMK, I hope you feel better soon!
Posted by: perclexed on April 2, 2004 11:59 AMThis is me waving at TMK's picture.
Posted by: CarolineF on April 2, 2004 12:29 PMOkay, I've been having a difficult week and not much laughter, but I laughed right out loud at the pic. Clever, very clever...and YOU mizz ryan "a shadow of her former self" HA! that got a real, true belly laugh out of me. Yer the bestest, you two. L
Posted by: Lisa in Oregon on April 2, 2004 01:16 PMBarb, is your Zimba Top solid or variegated? I think the sock pattern will look even better in a solid yarn than it does in the variegated that I used. Let me know how it looks in the lavendar! (FYI, I MIGHT be a tight knitter, so you may have to go down to a size 0 needle to get the 9.5 stitch guage. Alternatively, you can easily add or subtract stitches from the pattern because only eight stitches are involved in the lace. However many other stitches you include besides the eight is up to you.)
Thank you everyone for your good humor about our silly TMK picture. She took it on Wednesday and we could hardly wait until this morning to post it. And, for the record, the whole thing was TMK's idea!
Posted by: Ryan on April 2, 2004 01:32 PMYou guys just crack me up! What a laugh you've given everyone with that picture of TMK.
Posted by: Yvette on April 3, 2004 12:19 AMWow! Thanks Ryan. TUMK has your eyes! That is so funny!! One day, I know I will figure out how to email photos with my new camera and I'll send you a pic of me.
The weather here is best described as raw. It's my boy's first Little League game,so I'm dressing in many, many layers. Each boy who reaches base, then steals a base, so the games can take hours. I think my son will pitch for the first time today.
Feel better, K.
Wow. Is "steeked" really a word? If so, whazzit mean? Can you use it in a sentence like, "I am so totally steeked?"
And don't you think saying, "Barb, is your Zimba Top solid or variegated?" is awfully personal for a public forum?
This blog needs subtitles.
Posted by: Cuzzin Tom on April 3, 2004 11:04 AMOh, that K!
She is so darling! I knew it!
Very lively. Very lush. Very green.
