1989 ITEMS!!!

This information comes from Marcus at F.I.R.E. who is subbing for Meredith while she is on vacation. My new best friend Marcus also tells us:

  • They are receiving 2-6 Dulaan boxes every day
  • The boxes have come from Australia, England, Scotland, New Zealand, all over Canada, and from 27 of the 50 states
  • The largest number of mailings—although not necessarily the largest number of items—have come from New York

There is no question in my mind that we will reach 2,000 items on Monday, with a couple of weeks still to go before the deadline. I am just in awe, I tell you, in awe.

It warms the heart.
That represents so much time and love...
wow. I think I'm getting misty! Way to go on the scam!

And to think there were actually some people who thought 2,000 was too high a goal! Hah! I say! Hah! I think we should plan on a goal of 5,000 for next year's shipment. Mary B

Oops, that was supposed to be "HALLELUIA!" with much emphasis in the form of brackets... *sheepish* So *that's* why that preview button is there! Blarg

Holy Shnikeys!! Wow. Just wow. I really need to get my box in the mail. Wow.

Ummm...I'm with Mary B. I think if we plan on knitting a hat or a scarf in between all of our other projects we do for this year, we'll make 5000 for next year easy. Crochet an afghan, knit a hat for Dulaan. Knit a tank top, knit a scarf for Dulaan.....I'm liking it. Plus it gives you an opportunity to work on something easy or try out new stuff. Yeah. I haven't even mailed off this batch and I'm getting all worked up over the next.

Wow.

WOW. (but I'm not surprised)

I need to mail off my box soon.

Posted by: Melissa on June 10, 2005 01:27 PM

I mailed my box yesterday with 20 items inside. Woohoo!

Posted by: Jessica on June 10, 2005 01:38 PM

Yippee!!! I was a doubter, I'll admit it. But I've got a box here just waiting for someone who will remain nameless to get around to sewing on buttons, and that box has more than 20 items in it... So for sure we've made the 2000 that MaryB was aiming for.

So, should I take a trip somewhere to mail my box from an hitherto unheard from state?

My 9 are going off tomorrow. I'm really proud to have been a part of this! I wonder if anyone's mailed from New Mexico yet????

And cruising blogland, I saw that Donna of Random Knits has a box with 13 items ready to go out soon.

WeeeeHAWWWWW! I'm gonna have a glass of wine to celebrate. And being of relatively unsound mind and body, this afternoon I cast on for a pair of wool baby/toddler socks. I'm working on them now. Just for practice on socks, you understand.....

Uh, Norma, didn't you say you were DONE with charity knitting for now? Oh, that's right; they're just practice socks.

To everyone--very cool, huh? I've been having violent attacks of goosebumps all day, when I least expect them.

Ryan, my hats are still coming too, about a dozen. This has been fun, and I've been able to try out some new yarns that aren't available locally.

I mailed off my box of six on Friday. :)

Ryan, great job! (everyone else, too). I sent off my 7 items this morning -- would have been more, but these had to be added on to my regular knitting for others, because I can't neglect CIC or A4A. I'm so glad enough people showed, again, how much they care.

I'd love to send you a photo of the 20 knitted and crocheted items I made for the Dulaan Project: 2 hooded scarves, 11 hats and 7 scarves. Thank you for bringing this opportunity to help...

Gret job with the Project! But excuse me, is everyone just going to gloss over the 'turning the printer on with her toes'comment. I for one am glad more people are coming out in the open with this. I can turn on and pick up many things with my toes and I have read about bloggers even knitting with their toes ( Btchwstx.blogspot.com) There, your laugh for the day.
