Seriously, people, what is up with Typepad? So many of my daily fixes reads use this service, but I cant get the full-size photos to load from the thumbnails anymore. All I get is a nice, tantalizing window, full of hope, full of potential, full of promise, and yet...also full of this caca:
? m?͎ ?ϩS,暦S?@Z Ǵ???? ٛ? .?g???ⴣـIM ɫ?6C|[Ĉ봍?澀/d?? 7?lⱒ?]!v]緋_? ӧ<:̜?L? ? R?M?l?.G?:SEȤꝞ/e&?-??Ԥ9?-?j tjeȈ sk?ѳ l ;-NShݠ˝^???R+ ? ?ӆH?J ߙ?/?>(??ˠ ?߮ ?dW ϝ?˚J? ?? ?Ƀ?>???Ńʳ??6է h??On d5?lX? F ہ;⺼?H4?y?
This problem started right after Typepad's last downupgrade so Im thinkin its not me...not I...whatever.

What I Learned This Weekend:
Dont take photographs of your knitting near a flowerbed that has just been freshly mulched.

What Else I Learned This Weekend:
We will do anything, and I mean a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g, for our blogs.
The earlier photo? Here's the soul-baring truth about it:
It is true that the ball of yarn rolled over into the mulch.
It is true that the ball of yarn became completely begrimed with nasty, sharp little pieces of red mulch.
However, it is also true that I picked it up, brushed it off, and carefully picked out every piece of mulch...and then realized, hey, mulch-covered yarn would've made for a pretty funny photo. A gold star to anyone who can guess what I did next. Two gold stars to anyone who confesses they've done something similar.

Bemulched ball of yarn aside, I still managed to get a better photograph of the Baby Aran Cardigan in progress:

This photo is extremely washed out because my camera insists on using the flash no matter what the lighting conditions. On this day, it was 90 degrees out and the sun she was ablazin but stillFLASH! The yarn is actually a deep dark, British racing green color, very rich, very yummy.
And a close-up, similarly washed-out. (I think my camera manual and I have a date tonight.)

What TMK Learned This Weekend:
It is physically impossible for a 53 woman to prune an 8 bush, especially when the ground is too soft to use a ladder:

Yep. That's itthe final product. How TMK plans on leaving the bush. Unless she can get the 6 tall Amazon woman who lives across the street to help her out. News at 10.
Since Typepad had its last downgrade, it has been slower and dumber. And that is from my perspective of trying to post most days. And yes, a 5'3" can prune an 8" bush when the ground is too soft to use a ladder you just have to know the secrets. You lay a board down to brace the ladder. Or you can wait until the ground dries out some to prune it. You don't think that we wait for the ground to dry out before we throw ladders in the fire service do you?
Posted by: Mia on August 15, 2005 11:38 AMThe bush looks like a mutant bunny... :-)
Posted by: Lee Ann on August 15, 2005 11:53 AMSo does this mean I get THREE gold stars for dropping yarn in dirt, cleaning it, doing it for the photo, cleaning it again and then accidently dropping it in.......mud? It was a pathetic day and that yarn never did make it to ebay....
Posted by: kim on August 15, 2005 11:54 AMI don't wanna talk about it. I just took the cucumber slices off my eyes. They were there to soothe down the swelling that occurred from the flat-out bawl I had after I had written an entire post this morning, previewed it, pressed, "re-edit this post" to fix a typo and it was all lost. Now, I know you're going to gripe at me for not doing my post elsewhere like Word like you've told me many times, but I just can't work that way. And I've got this fucker set (pardon my French in your family blog, but I'm just that frustrated!) to "automatic save," and it usually always (love that phrase; it's one of my favorites) works. Not this time. Next I typed a title. A FRIGGING TITLE, and pressed "enter," and it was DELETED. I gave up, ate half a gallon of ice cream (did you get the memo? I don't do dairy, I'm not an ice cream person AND I'm on a diet today....) then started crying and couldn't stop, and then wrote the whole piece of caca again. So go read it. Sorry about the popups, though. But it's an exciting day: I finished my first pair of socks. I think that's worthy of a comment from you. (Would it kill you to comment, by the way?) (ROFL at my own funniness. I just slay myself sometimes, I really do)
But anyway, yes. I'm calling it a downgrade and Mia is 100% right. Dumber and slower. They told me they're "working on a database for popular blogs with lots of comments like mine," which it took me .00000001 seconds to recognize as a blatant suckup. So I don't wanna talk about it.
Posted by: Norma on August 15, 2005 12:01 PMThe 5'3" woman could have gotten on the roof to trim the top of the hedge. Considering that you'll go to any lengths for the blog, I'm just sayin'....
Posted by: Samina on August 15, 2005 12:01 PMThe Typepad downgrade. Yeah... that's why I haven't been posting... sure... though I think my pop-ups are working ok.
Norma, I'm so sorry about losing the post. I think it definitely called for eating ice cream in quantity. Sending a virtual hug.
Ryan, glad to see you're not above getting down and dirty for your readers. TMK, if I was there I'd trim that bush for you. I'm not quite 6 feet tall, but I am when I wear heels!
Posted by: Nathania on August 15, 2005 12:26 PMOh, and I forgot to comment about the Amazon woman. In TMK's neighborhood? Are you worried? Just sayin'.....
Posted by: Norma on August 15, 2005 12:37 PMSee, I've been looking for an excuse to come plant myself in your outdoor room eating tasty chef salads. Now that I know TMK needs a 6' amazon I'm packing up the greyhounds and I'm on the way!
I can reach the top shelves at the grocery store and the top bins at the yarn store too.
Small reward for having to knit a mile and a half of fabric for my sweaters!
Posted by: Laurie on August 15, 2005 12:43 PMI think what saves me from such photo incidents is the part about not having outside space at all, much less a garden. Cat hair (from the photo-spot on the back of the couch) just isn't unusual enough to be interesting.
Re. pruning, could you maybe pull those branches toward the ground along with one of their neighbors, and just cut them to about the same length as the already-pruned one(s)? That's kind of how I cut my hair...
Posted by: naomi on August 15, 2005 02:57 PMNorma--the Amazon woman? Not a threat. Straight as straight can be. Maybe even straighter. But she and TMK trade tools and help each other out, especially with gardening since they are both gardening nuts. (And, Ms. Norma, how many times do I have to say it? Do Not Compose Your Entries in the Blog Software. You are guaranteed to find yourself face down in a half-gallon of ice cream on Diet Day. Gar-awn-teed.)
Kim, I say you get four gold stars--one extra one for making me feel better about the ridiculous thing I did.
Samina, tsk, tsk, tsk. Have you *seen* the recent entries about TMK's back? ;-)
Laurie, come on down! Somewhere between our two houses, I'm sure we can find an extra bedroom, especially for someone who is willing to do a little hard labor on our behalf.
Lee Ann, you say mutant bunny, I say the alien mascot from Quisp cereal.
And, phew! Thank God I'm not the only one who things that Typepad has gone all wonky.
Posted by: Ryan on August 15, 2005 02:58 PMSamina: There are two (OK, three) things, tools, vehicles I am not allowed to play with any more.
1. I'm not allowed on the roof. Since I'm the most accident-prone person Ryan has ever met, we thought this was best.
2. I'm not allowed to use a chainsaw. See number 1 above.
3. I can have another motorcycle if I don't mind being single. I mind. So no motorcycle.

Posted by: The Mysterious K on August 15, 2005 03:12 PMOh, surrrrre, Ryan, that's what they all say. Amazon women, that is. ;-D
Posted by: Norma on August 15, 2005 05:01 PMYes me too on Typepad! My favorite yarn artist uses Typepad for her blog and I have to squint at the beautiful colors in the thumbnails and mourn because about half of them open up in windows that say *#9*&^$(*&%*U)(*&. Which is what I then say. Anyone who uses Typepad complained to The Authorities? Just wondering.
Posted by: CarolineF on August 15, 2005 05:59 PMI have that "Anything" song in my head now Ryan!
We sang it in elementary school, so I am remembering parts of it, but I can't remember where it's from. Thanks a lot- this could be worse than the infamous three days of "The Tennessee Waltz" in 1999.
Oh wait! It's from "Oliver" isn't it? Excellent. Now when I go around the bend from mattress stitching the panels of a burgandy afghan while humming that song, I'll at least know where it's from.
Posted by: rie on August 15, 2005 07:10 PMWhere can I collect my stars?
I hope the Amazon women rescue you and your bush. (ahem. sorry.) Do stay off the roof. I think your baby cardi is beautiful. My DD was here knitting a baby sweater for her first friends' baby. Do you think you can invoke grandbabies by knitting baby things?
Lightnin just struck about two streets away. I believe I'll log off. Just in case.
Oh, fine, Rie. Now *I* have the "Anything" song stuck in my head, too. Let's go quietly insane together, shall we?
Posted by: Ryan on August 16, 2005 08:23 AMWell, yesterday I had "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes (Knees and Toes!)" running through my head. I was kind enough to not share that at Ferals.
Here is the link I mentioned to you:
Posted by: Patti on August 16, 2005 10:41 AMActually, I was thinking that you needed to knit bean bag type eyes and decorate the tree to be your own Green Guard. Maybe even do some yellow Bob Ross happy trees.
As for Typepad, I just want it to remember my info.
Posted by: Seanna Lea on August 16, 2005 01:09 PMP.S. If you'd like to take my washcloth pattern from last night, modify it slightly and knit it in pink, I'm sure you could submit it to Knitty.
Posted by: Patti on August 16, 2005 01:36 PMThanks for posting about TypePad. I tried for hours to get photos on my blog last night - only the second time I've ever tried. The first time, a few weeks ago, went fine. BAH!
Posted by: KnittnLissa on August 17, 2005 08:38 AMHow cool are you, Miss "I got mentioned by name in the latest Vogue Knitting"???
(and pardon me if I'm way late to the party on this one... I was doing my hair. Or something. But I got excited nevertheless.)
