Y2K?

I sense a great disturbance in The Force. The most current entries from various blogs, like Janine’s and Julia’s, seem to have disappeared into the ether—poof! A little bit of sleuthing led me to believe it was a Typepad thing but now I see that Norma’s Typepad site is fine and Rachael’s site—which isn’t a Typepad site, as far as I can tell—is also missing its latest entry. Whut the fuh? Could it be that the long-threatened Y2K chaos and "interruption of service" is finally catching up with us? Should we all be heading down into our well-stocked bomb shelters to live out the rest of our lives? (Fine by me, as long as TMK allows me to bring my entire stash.)

On a completely different subject, this morning it was an icy 25 degrees out. And I mean icy, you know, that kind of cold where every surface is frost-white, hard, and slick, the air hurts your lungs going down, and the inside of your nose gets weirdly crispy. Which is why, during my commute, I was astounded to pass a Mercedes Benz convertible, zipping along at 60 miles an hour…with the top down. You decide, Dear Readers:

No postings next week, Dear Readers, since I will on Christmas Holiday Christmas Holiday Christmas vacation. In the meantime, however, Frankie, TMK and I would like to dedicate this to all of you who have, by returning to the blog again and again and by being willing to share parts of yourselves with us, given us yet another year of fantastic and supremely enjoyable online fun:

typepad is having a glitch.. so they put up their backup (which was backup-ed up last week) and no one can post etc ugh.

love the frankie pic.

Sue tells me of times she has a) brought down a vaccuum and b) brought home a xmas tree with the top down in december. BRRR. 2 yrs ago the fuse popped on her auto window on dec 26th. that was a chilly drive as well.

brrr. that story made me shiver. Then again, I am sitting at my desk with a small heater blowing directly under my chair...a fleece jacket over a sweater...freezing my tuckus off because I am under the AIR CONDITIONING VENT...which yes, indeed is blowing COLD air I suspect directly fron Antartica on me.

Note to self: This weekend, fingerless mitts for ME...Christmas knitting be damned...
I'll miss ya next week :(

Have a Merry Christmas and a lovely vacation.

P.S. It was 14F at my house this morning and when I left for work. It got up to 35.4F yesterday. However, it is a little (not much) warmer down here in town (about 600 ft. lower).

Glad to hear that it wasn't just me. I thought I had entered into some weird time warp on the web.

Once when I was a teenager we drove in a convertable in weather that cold, but I was young and stupid and it was my first time in a convertable.

Have a very good vacation and enjoy your holidays.

Some company ran tv ads last year saying Merry Christmahannukwanzikah. I like that a lot. :-) You just need to work in Boxing day, solstice and new year's day.

Mercury is in retrograde which messes with communications. Totally messes!

I miss you too and will be a Ferals starting in January. Monday is the birthday so I'll be stuffing my face at Kingfish instead of knitting.

Even my wacky husband wouldn't do that, although he has been known to drive around with the top down on his convertible when the temperature hovers around 40 - but only as long as the sun is out. Brrrrr. No matter the temperature, my first words on getting into his car are always "put the top up." Merry Christmas!

I had my blog post all written in Word and I can't post it! Arrgghh! Makes me feel all piratey. And the top half of your blog is disappearing today - what's up with that?

It's TOO COLD.

Santa Paws, how cute is that!!!!!

Ryan, this is NOT a joke, but if it was a dark grey Mercedes, that's my boss and he had the top down this morning because we just got back from a 3 day meeting in Tahoe and apparently he wanted to feel like he was still there.

And no, I'm not kidding :)

Have a GREAT vacation!! (and that's an awesome holiday card. :)

Libby, I'm afraid it was black. Darn, eh?

Have a wonderful vacation! And TMK - I got my lathe all set up in my Dad's basement and got me some sharp chisels and plan to spend my Monday day off having some quality time with my new toy and a couple of dogwood blanks I picked up to play with. Wish me luck!

I've driven with the top down in winter. As long as the windows are up and the heat is on you're fine. It's actually rather toasty and fun!

Happy gwfgwf* to you!

gwfgwf - generic winter festive gathering with food. That way everyone is covered.

I just passed some dork in a Saab with the roof down too. I have no clue what these people are thinking.

Posted by: Jessica on December 16, 2005 03:12 PM

I wondered what happened to Norma. Much as I love that pic of the little dog and the mitten, it just wasn't good for my Norma fix.
GWFGWF. Is that pronouced gwuf-gwuf? I like it. Happy gwuf-gwuf to you too.
My aunt is on some rampage now because Target employees can't wish her a Merry Christmas, so she's boycotting. Whatever, Aunt H. And happy holidays to you too.

Happy mid winter festival !

One year the electric windows on our car got stuck in the down position and we went to cut down our Christmas tree. It really felt like a sleigh ride on the way home with the freezing wind rushing through the car and the tree on the roof.

Yeah, Typepad is down again....my blog is in ruins tooo...hope they fix them soon.

It *is* a typepad blog, you clever puss. I just hide it by mapping it to the yarnagogo address, but it's still actually myglasshouse.typepad.com.....

:)

I hope Santa brings Frankie the caviar of kibble, a squeaky toy, and a rope for tug-of-war. And some rat repellent spray for the doggie bed. Enjoy your blog-vacation.

Merry Chrismas my lovely. Hug TMK and the puppies for me, and I hope your holiday is wonderful.

How pathetic, but I keep checking just in case you've a mind to post on vacation....sigh. Miss you. Hope you're having a fab christmas break.

Sorry, Lisa! Ryan is off finishing up her Santa duties. I *am* keeping her up-to-date with the latest blog gossip. ;-) TMK
