Ho Hum.

That’s the thing about blogging. Just when you reach that dreaded day when your life has been so dull and you've done so little knitting that you literally have nothing to write about, that ignominious moment when you’re going to have to write, in red, at the top of your blog, “No posting today, Dear Readers, because I’m an empty-headed ninny,” you get to post this instead:

Anyone in Seattle or environs want to meet Cuzzin Tom?

Our illustrious and robèd leader (har, har; that’ll go to his head and then he’ll have to do all kinds of penance, which is my primary goal in life, to put obstacles in the way of his journey to spiritual fulfillment. Excuse me while I go polish my tail and horns.) will be here mid-July. We’re planning a bbq at TMK’s house on Sunday, July 15, at 1 p.m. Being a knitter is not required, although I suspect large amounts of knitting will accidentally occur because a Venn diagram of the knitterly/spinnerly/ Buddhist/Cuzzin Tom people in my life would show an overlap something like this:

The details of the event still need to be ironed out but in the meantime, email me if you think you might come so we know how many kegs much soda to buy.

Oh, and if you’re going to be there, I advise you to start practicing his real name now: Konchog Norbu. It’s pronounced like Flonchog Shorbu, only not.

Note to Elaine and Leslie: Saturday is your Sacred Day of Rest that weekend, knowhut’m sayin’?

Note to Franklin: Cuzzin Tom, knitting, food, good coffee, gay-friendly city, photogenic state with water, mountains, desert... Need I say more?

Dang! I'm going to be in Alaska on vacation then.

So, I wonder if my husband would fly off to Seattle with me to meet a herd of knitters (he's deathly afraid of knitter herds) and some guy named Konchog?

Aye-aye - we'll start practicing our pronunciations now.

Posted by: Elaine on June 8, 2007 01:02 PM

I can come! Whoopee! I'm with you, Elaine, gotta start practicing pronunciations. And whip up something knit in gold and red to wear.

I wish I lived in Seattle....

Did you say "Buddherly"? I'm totally borrowing that word, as soon as I find a way to work it into a conversation. :)

Posted by: Julie on June 8, 2007 01:36 PM

OK, you've done it. I didn't think there was ANYTHING that could make me regret going to Knitting Camp.... but I'm going to be gone that weekend.

Congrats, Cuz. Scanning "It’s pronounced like Flonchog Shorbu" caused me to snork my morning coffee with such force that it splashed against the back of my skull and drained directly into my central nervous system. Needless to say, I'm doing that every morning from now on.

I can't WAIT to meet the Seattle crew (and that includes Frankie); as an added incentive, there just might be Mongolian fiber involved...

OK, for those who can't be there, PROMISE there will be lots of photos and updates as it occurs, like the pj party at the knitting store? Maybe Cuzzin Tom can even post?

Can he take things back with him? We could just inundate him with more knitted things by then to fit in his huge suitcases ... :-)

While you are off polishing your horns & tail and the Cuz is snorting coffee, I am getting really happy about this get together. Especially since I missed the Dulaan-a-thaan. Could we get phoentics on the 1st part of Cuzzin Tom's name, please?

Posted by: KT on June 8, 2007 06:52 PM

I wanna come!!! I WILL look into it. Seriously.

Posted by: Norma on June 8, 2007 07:08 PM

Norma- If you come, you can stay with me and I will be your personal driver!!!!!

Posted by: KT on June 8, 2007 07:52 PM

Now I'm no dummy (shush, cuz); I know that no one who visits this blog is gonna call me Konchog, nor do I expect it. KT, the correct phonetics for my first name are as follows: Cuzz'-zzin. Then Tom.

And I gotta be clear -- I won't have suitcase room for knitted goods to schlep to Central Asia. High-quality, dark roast whole coffee beans and kitty toys, however...

Posted by: Cuzzin Tom on June 9, 2007 04:51 AM

ohmygod. I'm at work and I can NEVER read you here because my firewall thinks you're too adult for me, and here you are! Yay! And I WANT TO MEET CUZZIN TOM. Sigh.

Posted by: Rachael on June 9, 2007 09:30 AM

FINALLY! Here come da Cuz, Here come da Cuz.... I myself like Tomchog - good combination, easy to pronounce...although I tried it on him in an email once and strangely, he didn't comment on it. Coffee beans are heavy. Too bad coffee doesn't come concentrated in a brick as tea used to be. How 'bout we bring stuff, I'll bring a box and packing material, and I'll just ship it to him after the par-tay? And yesssssss, I'll do it faster than I shipped the Dulaan box! So count me in for the day.

My vacation starts that weekend...I wonder if Spiff would be up for a trip to Seattle...

Though, dude, that's like flying to France and we're not doing that this summer either and there's a mother-in-law and father-in-law on the other side of that trip, so...

Whine. I don't think he'll buy it.

Please post pictures of this fantabulous event.

oh! oh! me! me! ohmagod! I get to meet the amazin' knittin' goddess (accent on the ess please) AND the cuzz all in one drive up. What could sky-rocket me directly into nirvana in one feel swoop? darinka coming too? I'd surely drop dead.

Posted by: camela on June 10, 2007 08:05 PM

Yes please?

Posted by: moiraeknittoo on June 10, 2007 09:04 PM

I propose that somebody -- TMK? She seems pretty handy -- quick invent that transporter thingy they used in Star Trek so I can be there. Sheesh. I was nearly halfway there when you had the Dulaan-a-thaan; read all about it in the espresso bar hot spot in Buffalo, Wyoming. Now you go and do this.

Have a wonderful time, and give ol' CT/KN a *budderly hug* for me, 'kay?
