Huh. That's All There Is To It?

j4.GIFNo posting Wednesday or Friday, Dear Readers. Wednesday TMK, Frankie and I will be huddled under a bed somewhere, hiding from the fireworks which we detest with an unutterable detestation, and crawling out only long enough to wolf down some barbequed steak and corn. Friday, meh, I’ll just be on vacation.

A weekend of small successes.

I drank this without incident:

I completed this:

And accidentally started a new one:

I think the difference between your first and second BSJ is like the difference (as I imagine it to be) between your first and second bungee jump. During the first jump, you plummet head first towards the earth, screaming, twisting, thrashing, making unrealistic promises to God, most likely doing unspeakable things in your pants, and making your displeasure known to anyone within shouting distance. Then you get back on the crane or the bridge or wherever you jumped from the first time and think, “Huh. That wasn’t so bad. I think I’ll do it again.

I’ve finished updating the list of people who finished their ”Dulaan 10,000 or Bust” items. These names were marked “done” as of today and are the last names which will be entered into the prize drawing.

Angela Grant
Anj
CeCe Braun
Elizabeth
Jenn Walters
Kirsten
Linda K
Robbyn
Ruth
Sarah
Seanna Lea
Shannon Buck
Sharon
Sue

The complete list of people who signed on and the ones who completed their five or more can be found here, sorted, as always, alphabetically by first name or nickname. A total of 261 people met their goal, meaning they donated a minimum of 1,305 items. Many, many participants donated more (we won’t even mention Nancy O., who knitted and crocheted the equivalent of contributions from 31.4 other people) so that number is actually much higher.

I’ll finish gathering items for the prize this week and do the drawing, by random-number generator, next week.

Thank you all for participating and helping keep that infamous Dulaan energy level up, up, up! I have my fingers crossed that we get an updated number from F.I.R.E. soon. I can’t wait to see what kind of “damage” we did this year!

You are all A-Number-One angels of the first order!!

The finished jacket is so cute! Obviously not colors that could be combined like that for a full sized human, but for a little tot, wonderful.

Hmm, may have to plunge in and try this.

Congratulations on not maiming anymore keyboards with your Starbucks.

Have a safe and happy Fourth, and good vacation on Friday.

I've seen a few versions of the BSJ in blogland, but yours is the first that made me want to try one. I really like it!

Ryan, I just checked the list, and my name isn't bolded, even though you listed me the other day. Just wanted to let you know.

Also, in regards to next year, I suggest that for each set of 5 items that a person knits, their name should go in once. Hence, Nancy O. would be in many times, but that's as it should be. It would be like a lottery- one where knitting five items would get you a ticket.
What do you think?

You're marked as "done" now, Abby. I've got my fingers crossed that I didn't forget anyone else!

Love the BSJ - I knew you could do it! Can't believe you have already started #2, guess you have become addicted to the drama!

Hi Ryan, I emailed you on june 18 about my finished items - I don't appear bolded on the list and I was too late to be entered in the raffle, but I really did finish! I'm no dropout. :)

That BSJ is freaking great! I am baby, hear me roar!

Can't wait to see the #'s from FIRE.

Wait--you bungee jump?!

Posted by: Kristen on July 2, 2007 03:06 PM

If you're gonna do bungee jumping....I wanna be there to see it.

I'm with you regarding fireworks. Hate the noise and am equally annoyed by the eejits who insist on shooting them off all hours of the night. Grrrr.

You won't need F.I.R.E. to send you pics of that BSJ -- you'll be able to spot the child wearing it on satellite photos! LOL It is adorable, though.

I am so in LOVE with that Baby Surpise Jacket! Please send it to me immediately. No? Okay, I guess I'm just going to have to copy yours :-)

The BSJ is adorable! The colors are so bright and cheerful! They're making me grin really stupidly.

Your BSJ #1 = Brightly Spectacular Jacket. Very cute.

Your newest BSJ = Brilliantly Subtle Jacket. Ditto.

Happy news on the Starbucks.

Whoops..... my name isn't showing as finished! I sent my 14 items the first part of June and the photos are in the group photo files as Ann Bs Dulaan Knits. (I am the one who did the gift tags in Mongolian) Could you please show Ann Belau as finished? Thanks Ann B

Your BSJ is absolutely adorable! When I took my items up to Flagstaff last week, the lovely gal that I talked to said that they had by far exceeded 12,000 items and that she still had a rather large stack of inventory sheets to enter in. Note that this is all without the help that they had last year from a company that donated a ton of sweaters! WTG KNITTERS!!! Oh, and Ryan, my total wound up being 19 instead of 17. ;)

totally forgot to let you know I finished, but I mailed off my stuff last week so you should be getting a small but very well meant box today or tomorrow (if USPS is to be trusted).

Cheers
