Silent Auction for Local Sheep-Milk Cheese Co. Ruined by Floods

Posting wasn't on the agenda today but then I read about this, a silent auction that is being held to support the Black Sheep Creamery, a local sheep-milk cheese producer who, per the auction site, "lost 80% of their ewes, all of their rams, all winter feed and hay, sustained extensive damage to the house, barn, fences, pastures, cheese storage and equipment."

Passing it along since this seems like a win-win deal; you may win something you want, and you will definitely help the Creamery.

Speaking of win-win, items for Baby Harris keep pouring in, more socks, hats, bibs, washcloths, and two books! Will take photos this weekend and provide details on Monday!

Aw, Ry, how sad; I'm glad their address is posted. I'm going to send off *something*; hearing of a loss of sheep to weather breaks my heart. I was in California 38 years ago, and there was a food drive for some of the Navajo in Arizona who'd lost their flocks and just about everything else in bitter cold; then, a few years ago, there was a terrible flood of the Kamenistiqua River which caused the loss of a number of sheep at Fort William. I'd made friends with....oh heck, fallen in love with...several of the cantankerous ewes there the summer before and I was bereft. I wish, somehow, a lightening of the burdens on the hearth and hearts at Black Sheep Creamery. Thanks for the information.

Whee! That auction raised over $4000 and I am now the proud owner of 5 lbs of dirty sheep hair. YAY!
