Mondegreens!

While I’m not a regular reader of Crazy Aunt Purl, I’m so glad I cruised by her site yesterday and, specifically, stumbled across this entry about misheard song lyrics (I’ve always been a big fan of mondegreens anyway, so I was a sucker for this). Even if you’re not much of a comment reader, it’s worth reading every comment associated with this post. They get funnier and funnier the farther you go. Me, I laughed so hard a teardrop or two fell on my keyboard and I had to wipe my eyes before I shorted the durn thing out (no repeats of the Frappucino incident, thank you very much) . If you’re having a bad day or just need a pee-your-pants guffaw, this will do the trick, I garawntee it.

Now, for two photos designed specifically and unapologetically to annoy Norma and Stephanie. When we last saw La Harlot at Madrona, TMK mentioned to her that we were heading home to plant vegetable seeds. La Harlot, who lives in much colder climes and would have to wait many a long month before she could even think about planting vegetable seeds, said, in retort, something very unladylike (I believe the letter “F” was involved). TMK emailed something similar to Norma who also said something very unladylike (the equivalent, referring to Stephanie, of “what she said.”) So here they are, ladies, our lettuce and spinach poking their little green heads up out of the ground (little red circles courtesy of TMK who, as a professional designer, is a little-red-circle-drawer par excellence). Ta-dah! Oh, and neener neener.

Incidentally, please ignore Item #11 on Norma's posting for today. She is delusional from the lack of warmth on the East Coast.

Here, a very belated photograph. About three weekends ago, TMK and I went to a local spin-in hosted by the Northwest Regional Spinners Association . Here in the Northwest, we don’t do anything by halves (and this isn’t even everybody!):

The latest lovely ladies to join the Cotton Club:

For late-comers who may not've been privy to all the details, the dishcloth can be any color cotton yarn, but it has to be this pattern.

Dunno when the next posting will be since TMK and I are heading off tomorrow. She is bringing her laptop, though, so anything could happen, especially when it comes to killing those endless two hours mucking about in the airport. (Remember? Last time I was in an airport, you got a photo of my feet.) The challenge so far has been explaining to TMK, who is not big on authority, that, yes, she can only have one quart bag and, yes, everything has to be in small bottles and, no, the TSA is not kidding, and, no, they won’t bend the rules Just For Her. I’m still not sure I have her convinced. Ta’ heck with the rain in Hawai’i; we may not even make it past Seattle security.

Have a wonderful, marvelous, glorious time, and I certainly do hope you make it past security in a TIMELY fashion (I think I have finally educated my 12-year-old in TSA guidelines -- I did not realize I had to *tell* her not to put an entire bottle of shampoo in her carry-on backpack. Because who would do that, after all? Heh.
Anyhoo, soak up some flowers and sunshine for all of us.

The quart bag is magic. Nothing can hurt you if it's inside a quart bag! The sandwich bag and the gallon bag - these do not protect you. Only the quart bag!

TMK with a laptop and the ability to post. Hmm, we could get a blow by blow of the wait at Sea-Tac.

Yes, TMK, 3 oz containers, in double ziplocks. You don't want to buy it there, the shipping cost is terrible, so are the prices, even for the locals.

Ryan, do you have pretty handknit socks for us to see if you decide to photograph your feet?

Have a wonderful time, and even if it rains, it is warm, so not a big deal. :)

I don't regularly read Crazy Aunt Purl, but I read that post, so funny!

Two that no one mentioned are ones I believed from about age 4 until age... oh 22? Sara by Starship - I thought the line was "Sara, Sara, storms are the wind in your eyes" HAHAHA!!! I still sing it that way as an homage to my four year old self.

And, in We Built This City (hey, I was/am a big Starship fan!) I thought the line was "Mark only plays the Mamba, and listens to the radio". Oh, so bad.

Oh YES, have a wonderful time! (And TMK - I'm with you, but sometimes.......{big sigh} you have to do What the Department of They says.

I wasn't sure there was anywhere in the world without which there's three feet of snow on the ground, but I have it on What I Consider Reliable Authority that it's true. DIG IT!! :-)

Have an amazing vacation!

Do not mess with TSA. A cranky TSA agent is one who suddenly decides that knitting needles are not OK. Do not even joke about messing with TSA; these are power-hungry people with sore feet we're talking about here. :)
Have a lovely trip! Warshcloth knitting will commence over here while I wish I were in HI, too.

Have a wonderful time.

Enjoy. Security at airports is ludicrous but you just have to suck it up. No point in getting antsy about it - it just shortens your life.

Maybe you ought to tell TMK what happens if she gets selected for special security detail. That might convince her to small bottles are a good thing. Hope the trip is fabulous!

Pfffffft. Anything could happen to those seedlings while you're gone gallivatin' across the Pacific, ya know. Not that I hope any wayward rabbits happen by or anything! :P

Have a wunnerful, wunnerful time, you two! I'll try not to be jealous. It's such an unpretty emotion. :)

what they said.

while it was GAWGEOUS today (67!), the back yard is a swamp. we still have snow puddles.

have a safe (if not sane) trip!

Have a great trip. I assume it's coincidence that you leave town as I get back tomorrow.

Tell TMK that I fly regularly to California and the TSA is serious. If you look like you read the rules and are attempting to comply (e.g. your ziplock bag is one quart not one gallon and nothing is over 3.4 ounces, the size of contact lense cleaner) you'll fly through.

If you look like you're pushing it, they made you throw way all the offending items and they check EVERYTHING you have. I've not been in the latter group, as I'm one of those organized annoyances who threw everything in my bag 15 minutes before we left for the plane down here to California, though I set stuff out the night before, I've done this so much I have a drawer of things like shampoo in a two ounce travel bottle from Storables, and I have a house with underwear and such down here.

Now when we drive down with two cats, a litter box, low-allergen cat food, and a couple pieces of furniture it's a different story. As it is when I walk onto a ferry to Churchmouse. When I went to Laurie/CAP's book signing downtown on my way back from there with two sweater project bags in tow, she commented she liked a woman who traveled heavy.

Have a great time you two.

Here's a bit of an oldie song. I think it was the Beach Boys or someone like that. Anyway the first line that gets repeated over and over (according to my husband's very best friend) is saying
"Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob Moran!

I love many of the song mondegreens, so a few years ago I bought "Excuse me while I kiss this guy." It is full of them, and there are tons of websites devoted to those of misheard lyrical bent.

I hope you guys are having a really wonderful time.
(I bet it's fantastic.)

It snowed last night. I don't know if I love or hate those pictures.
