So, I tried the tax thing one more time and...

So My Tax Guy finished them. He has a dog. He has no cats.
While Tax Guy was doing whatever voodoo it is that Tax Guys do, I concentrated instead on my knitting, specifically, the Good Enough Gansey. Took it out, laid it out on the armrest to measure the length, went to get my measuring tape, and...

I wonder if my Tax Guy knows how to knit?
Good to hear from you. Aren't cats frustratingly adorable? ;)
Posted by: Kristen on April 12, 2009 10:09 PMAwwww. Such lovely kitties; you know they only want to be helpful. Just like my kitten was helpful when he gnawed through the cable on my circular needle...
Posted by: Caro on April 12, 2009 10:49 PMSo now you know your gansey is 1.5 cats long...
Posted by: Swapna on April 12, 2009 11:36 PMHaha! They are such a pair!
Posted by: CarolineF on April 13, 2009 05:47 AMIt's true--I'm a dog person, and I've done 3 sets of taxes this year (ours, our daughter's, and my mother-in-law's). I'm going to get a cat if it gets me out of this annual chore....
Posted by: Janine on April 13, 2009 06:56 AMDidja shove them off and knit, or start something new?
Posted by: Carrie on April 13, 2009 07:10 AMRy - HAH! Your cats are absolutely LOVELY! They're as glossy as my Evangeline, which is saying something. And they're clearly nobility; they have the "getinnerway" skill down. My Evangeline either lies on the keyboard (if I'm trying to write) or in my lap (if I'm trying to knit). But Lilliane? Oh, she's better - she gets RIGHT into the DH's face and demands to be carried around the house in his arms. OR...he sits on the pillow DH has put on the table to rest his foot while doing his morning stretches. It's their Job, their Feline Responsibility. :o)
Posted by: dale-harriet in WI on April 13, 2009 09:31 AMAren't cats so wonderfully helpful? I love the way they lined up one behind the other! My cats make me laugh all the time, and I appreciate any creature which can bring laughter into my life. Thanks for sharing your silly kittens with us.
Posted by: Marilla on April 13, 2009 10:46 AMAnd the worst part is, they are too cute to move. The plus side is that this is clearly the kitty-stamp of approval. And we all know that kitties have impeccable taste.
Posted by: Laurie on April 13, 2009 12:11 PMYou should set out a decoy piece of knitting. When they are comfortably nestled down on it, thinking smugly to themselves that they have, once again, achieved "beinginthewayness", you can yell "Aha" and whip out your true knitting project and knit undisturbed!
Posted by: Ken-Bob on April 13, 2009 12:58 PM"Quick! If we work together, we can cover more of it! Hurry up, she's coming back!"
Posted by: ccr in MA on April 13, 2009 06:13 PMOh oh oh! Now I know why I knit sweaters that don't fit...Silly me, using a measuring tape. Knitters in the Know use Cat-Lengths for their sweaters. Thanks, Swapna, a whole new world of design opens up...
Posted by: Gail "hey-would-you-shake-up-this-bottle-of-juice-for-me" on April 13, 2009 08:15 PMWhat is it about cats and pencils? My cat (who looks a bit like your two but w/o the white bib) loves to attack and chew the eraser end of the pencil. (Dear Teacher, My children couldn't do their homework because the cat kept stealing their pencils.) He knocks them out of the pencil can and we find them under the table, chairs, desk, etc. He can also spend half the day merrily chasing a Pink Pearl eraser all around the kitchen. (Dear Teacher, This homework is full of mistakes and scratch-outs because...) Who needs expensive cat toys? Move over PetC*- cat toys by *fficeMax.
Posted by: Tish on April 14, 2009 06:55 AMI laughed out loud at the two-cats-on-the-gansey photo. One time I baked a batch of cookies and left them on the counter (on the cooling rack) just long enough to clean up the cooking mess at my sink. When I turned back to the cookie counter, one of my cats was curled up on the cookies, taking a bath. I laughed so hard! What could be nicer? Warm, cinnamon-scented cookies (they were snickerdoodles) in a cheerful kitchen, elevated (1/2") on a cooling rack. Perfect!
Posted by: Ida on April 14, 2009 11:42 AMCongratulations! Your kitties have invented the two-car/cat monorail (you HAVE seen monorail cat on lolcats, right?)
Personally, I have always thought that kittehs would be a great addition to the accounting office where I slave over tax returns. Now I am thinking, Maybe not...
Posted by: kmkat on April 14, 2009 03:33 PMI think this is part of the reason I prefer smaller animals for pets; rats can at least be put back in their cage when they start misbehaving.
I'm a new reader by the way, I've just finished reading the archives and Ryan, you are a wonderful human being :)
Posted by: Leah on April 15, 2009 03:08 AMOh dogs get into it, too. I went to take a picture of my current sweater WIP and the instant I had it laid out nicely on the floor, my dachshund had parked himself on it and was gazing up at me adoringly. So sorry to any Ravelry users looking to see details on my sweater...
Posted by: Deb on April 15, 2009 01:40 PMGreat cat photo! Our 2 have currently adopted a couple of swatches I did for a design as an approved cat bed ;)
Posted by: Joy on April 15, 2009 09:01 PMLook, who's in CONTROL here? Huh???
Oh, yeah. It's CATS we're talkin' about. This is why I'm a dog person. :)
Posted by: Norma on April 19, 2009 05:35 AMSuch gorgeous tax helpers, just making sure you get all your cat approved deductions, and the way they line up to block the sweater, you have well trained knitty kitties.
That photo is going to make me laugh for the rest of the day.
