I went to the doctor’s last week and was diagnosed with high blood pressure. I tried to explain about the Flower Basket Shawl but I don’t think she quite understood the connection.
Muggles.
RX: take two LOL cats twice a day, with plenty of exercise (laser beam on the wall, catnip mouse, bit of string: cross-training). See me in a week.
Posted by: Elaine on March 29, 2010 11:43 AMWe do! I prescribe two skeins of Noro silk garden in your favoritest colors and knit a Noro Striped scarf (Brooklyn Tweed).
Posted by: Laurie on March 29, 2010 12:34 PMThe FBS would drive anyone's blood pressure through the roof. I don't understand why the doctors don't know this.
Posted by: Lisa on March 29, 2010 01:12 PMWhy won't doctors just understand that knitting is a hobby that seems relaxing on the outside, but is very high stress lifestyle(yes, knitting is a lifestyle"
Posted by: garret on March 29, 2010 03:46 PMI have a remedy! I learned it just this weekend!
Mix 1 part sugar with 2 parts sour cream and let sit for a few minutes. Use as a dip for strawberries, peach slices, nectarine slices, etc.
IT'S FRESH FRUIT YOU KNOW. IT'S GOOD FOR YOU. Strawberries have, like, antioxidants and stuff. Pinkie swear.
Posted by: Erika on March 29, 2010 04:57 PMDig into your stash and find the yummiest yarn you own. Select the proper needles. Knit something easy -- a Baktus scarf, a merino dishcloth, whatever. Guaran-damn-teed to bring down the ol' BP.
Oh, and snuggle one or more kittehs as needed.
Posted by: kmkat on March 29, 2010 06:29 PMI'm pretty sure there's a connection. Have some dark chocolate and red wine. It'll make you feel better -- or at least take the edge off : )
Posted by: Batty on March 30, 2010 04:10 AMNo more lace for you! Sunshine and flowers are salt free and should lower blood pressure!
Posted by: Seanna Lea on March 30, 2010 11:39 AMMy favorite is when I've just been weighed and I'm waiting for my pap smear and THEN they tell me my blood pressure is high. Um, DUH.
Posted by: Kitten on March 30, 2010 01:08 PMHugs!
Posted by: Kristen on March 31, 2010 12:53 AMNext time, make them take your blood pressure WHILE you are knitting something calm and soothing (NOT the FBS!). They will be impressed with how low it can go.
Take good care of yourself.
