Blog Poll!

You know how we knitters joke about, “I went to my LYS and some yarn accidentally fell in my cart, so what I was I to do?” Or “I went to my LYS and I was carrying my credit card and I slipped and fell and on my way down accidentally swiped my card through the card reader?”

Um, well, oops:

Okay, okay; I kid. A lot. True, I bought a car but it was no spur-of-the-moment accident. I’ve been looking for this hunk of metal for two anxiety-riddled years—ever since Camilla, my gone-as-of-this-morning convertible, started threatening to leave bits of important mechanical things all over the highway, and ever since my sister borrowed it for a day and got out of the car looking a little green around the gills—and then last week/this morning all the pieces came together: found a not overly oily dealer, found a not overly oily salesman, found the right used car at the right used-car price. (Not one of my finer moments: I actually said, after all the paperwork was done, that I had to go use the restroom because I had the "post-car-buying piddles." What I wouldn't give for a time machine.)

So, Dear Readers, New Car needs a name. I toyed briefly with forgoing the naming thing but then…naaaaah. I’ve gotten so far as to check under the chassis and see that it’s a boy but I can't decide on a name. Plus I haven’t had a poll on the blog for yonks and I love me some poll so please to be clicking the voting button, and suggestions are also encouraged!

I would go with Diablo, no definite article.

I agree with Mel.

I third Mel.

I did vote but.... I didn't like any of the names. It screamed "Bruce" at me. He is rather "Flaming" sorry...it had to be said. :P
It is a beautiful car.

Well, if his name was James, you could just get in and say, "Home, James." And he would take you home!
But I think more Roger, actually. Or Ted. Red Ted. Or Clifford, the big red car! Cliff.

As a Simpsons fan, I would call it the Canyonero. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4QgWRycd7I&feature=related

How about "Big Red" -- 'cause he's...well, you know.

If not, then Bode, which sounds hip and cool and zippy.

Good grief that's a vehicle. Having had red cars in the past, I like me some red car.

I have to say that my first reaction was to name it something to indicate its huge stash hauling capacity. Wow.

Unfortunately, that led to names like the Second Shed and other even less savory ones like the Big Red Hole.

Bode was a much better choice.

Someone has to say it; I'd name it Piddles.

I once had a red Subaru briefly named Gloria. That was before I realized I just could NOT bring myself to give a car a name. And I'm STILL no fun. But Gloria made me think vaguely of red lipstick and bright red nail polish, not to mention the Laura Branigan song that was popular the year I got the car.

The name that jumped into my head was Bruce. Then I read Annie's comment, and had one of those "Ack! Cosmic Coincidence!" moments.

I like Clifford the big red car ;)

I'm just not a car-namer. Mostly for lack of wit or imagination rather than a particular moral reason. I kind of like the Bruce suggestions, though!

The Red Menace. Or even The Big Red Menace. (How big is it?) I also like Clifford the Big Red Car.

Had to pick option 4 - sorry! (Don't really think you're a dork, I'm just one of the folk who doesn't see the point in naming inanimate objects.)

Regardless of its name, though, that's a handsome vehicle. ;)

I see that someone else already suggested this, but just one look and it's clear that car's name is Big Red.

Ticket. In spite of the fact that it is an SUV, the color is "Ticket Me Red."

Posted by: Jeep2010 on July 10, 2010 12:53 AM

I like El Diablo, but I voted Bode because I find that easier to say as a name. Plus I like the sound of it. :)

(whoops! my days of being AFK has made it so I have to wait to post a second time. lol)

Faragher! It's Irish and the original meaning is
"beloved person." Didn't like the ones on the poll. Home James and Red Ted were pretty darn cute tho.
